Hehe, i knew you cheated Teamspeed :)

Here is a ISO 3200 shot from my bathroom, taken with the 85mm 1,8 on the 7D. Passed it through DxO for standard adjustments and corrections. Noiselevels looks okay don't they ?

Has anyone else tried auto ISO in manual mode? Mine is still stopping at ISO 3200. I did not see any new place to set these limits. Did I miss something?

This comment was the one that I was hoping to find my answers from.... I see the issue now..bummer, ISO Auto limit is not functional in manual video mode.

Sorry if this has been answered, I did read back about 7 pages or so...
When I go to edit a RAW file "in camera" (pic(s) was take after update) it says there are "no compatible images available for selection"! I am shooting in M-RAW. ?? What the heck??

Admittedly, I did not download the new manual.

It turns out that my assumption was totally and obviously wrong. Someone else posted an excerpt from the new manual. I guess that Canon saw this as only a momentary inconvenience since that would have only impacted images existing on a CF card before the update. I don't know if they addressed this in their list of FAQ's, but they did say that raw image can't be copied from the computer to the CF card and then processed in the camera even if taken after the update.

Thanks Bill for the feedback. I guess I need to locate the new manual amendments.

Did you take the raw file before you updated the firmware? You can only edit raw files taken with the new firmware

Page 192 of the manual, MRaw and SRaw can't be processed in camera.

Look pretty typical to me.

Now your sink? That's another story. :)

TeamSpeed....what a cheek!!!!

But, the extra shot at ISO1600 is very clean.
Skies are notoriously horrid at higher ISO, and coming from a film background, as long as I frame properly and don't crop out (i.e. throw away) a massive chunk of image, I'm ecstatic with anything over ISO1000.

But less of your cheek, young man!!!!

Cheers for now,

Simon

This appears to have been underexposed then brought back up, with no NR and then sharpened? That will make the noise pop. I always keep my image histograms up toward the rightmost stop per the camera graph. The actual raw has even more headroom available, so you shouldn't risk blowing out highlights, then you bring the raw exposure down as needed, clean up noise, then sharpen. Your images should come out cleaner.

Here is my best attempt at replicating your shot, except I believe my scene ended up being a bit darker than yours by a 1/2 stop. :(

I posted a 7D 6400 raw in low light over in another thread, you might like playing with that raw to see what you think.

It's in the settings, the bottom of the 3rd tab "ISO Auto Max: xxxx "

Oh thanks! I missed that. I was looking under the C.Fn functions.

I agree noise appears to be improved and the camera seems more responsive overall.
