dont forget if you use a mac with OSX lion and above the mb size is worked out differently

they use the so ay the correct way

the size on a mac will be 19.3Mb

I saw that when I downloaded and installed yesterday. Downloaded it twice to be sure, was the same count both time so I went ahead and installed.

Just updated my 7D, did some quick ISO tests in M, settings accordingly. Standard noise reduction in camera applied on both firmware versions. The right side (with n) is the new 2.0 firmware. Same camera, same lighting settings.

Results are clickable to larger versions.

If anything, I believe we are just normal variation. I don't believe there is any improvement with 2.0 with respect to noise levels.

I blame TeamSpeed for trolling and getting the placebo ball rolling with those 50-500mm lens shots. lol

Exactly my thoughts. Maybe some difference in white balance can be seen, since I shifted the magenta in both versions. It now seems that the new pictures are a little bit more yellowish (thus they fixed the slight magenta cast for which I corrected in my opinion).

Wow, ISO 12800 is so very nice now, I love it! I never got this kind of performance out in the field before the update!

Doesn't that depend on what YOU want YOUR max. auto ISO to be? That might be different from what I want mine to be, so what I might suggest shouldn't be very helpful to you. For what it's worth, I set mine on 6400, since I sometimes need to shoot at ISO 6400. On the other hand, I basically never use auto ISO, so my setting here is probably irrelevant in any event.

I'm wishing I had taken some controlled images before and after the update. I seem to see less noise now at ISO 800 and 1600. But 'seat of the pant's' feelings don't count for much... (Darn placebo effect )

While we are on the subject on auto iso,how does the camera determine what iso to use?The reason I ask is with my 15-50 stabilized lens it lowers the iso automatically to take advantage of the stabilization to keep the shutter speed around 1/60 sec.On a regular non stabilized lens it will adjust the iso to give me a 1/160 shutter speed in AV mode.Is the camera really that smart?

I took some quick shots of random things before and after the update, shot at ISO6400. I didn't really notice anything different.
