I took some quick shots of random things before and after the update, shot at ISO6400. I didn't really notice anything different.

Way to put out the embers of hope that there are hidden fixes in this release...

Making ZERO claims of scientific accuracy and merely for your entertainment and consideration I put up the following images. Since I upgraded the firmware before I even considered that ISO handling could possibly be affected, I could not do any proper before and after tests. However, I had some shots from 6 months ago with my 7D at 3200 and a 5DII I had use of at the time also at 3200. So I used the same object (although the lighting in the room was different due to the time of day) and shot it again today with the firmware upgrade at 3200, 6400, and 12,800. Then I shot it again with my T3i, thinking that it may have somewhat similar performance to the non updated 7D. The updated 7D and the T3i were taken in the same lighting today, the old 7D and 5DII were 6 months ago and different from today's lighting. So, below is a shot of the entire object at 6400 ISO and then 100% crops of the same area of he object at the ISO's listed. These are all jpegs extracted from the raw file by the program, "Instant Jpeg from Raw," and they are not edited beyond being extracted. They were shot with a Tamron 60mm f/2 macro at f/3.5. So, draw your own conclusions from this non scientific exercise.

The subject at ISO 6400

Has any one noticed any effects, positive or negative, on autofocus, particularly AI Servo? I'm hopeful they have improved the AF to match, more or less, what the 5D3 can apparently do in terms of focus reliability (within the limits of the AF sensor, of course. The 5D3's sensor is more sensitive in low light, and that's a hardware difference that can't be compensated for in firmware).

this will be the first thing I look for while at the airport in about an hours time. Along with the burst rate

Are you downloading it from here:

Try downloading it again and see if that fixes your problem.

dont open the file (you won't be able to), just extract it from the zip onto the root of your CF card. Your camera will open/access it.

When you downloaded it did you input your operating system correctly into the dropdown boxes? Not sure if that matters, but...... also did you check the file size after you downloaded it?

I just came back from shooting Alice Cooper's concert here in Gothenburg, i mainly used my upgraded 7D with 300 2,8 and oh boy the firmware made my shots fly! i filled one memorycard after another with the burstrate improvement. Noisequality also appears to be improved in my images. All this and more makes me a happy puppy. :)

What's the exact name of the file you are trying to extract? It sounds like you are trying to open a file rather than extract it. What operating system are you using? Windows or Apple?
