I thought it did, show them the upgrade and they give you 50% off. It's another undocumented feature, but I'm sure I read about it in some forum.....;)

Wow another undocumented feature with this upgrade...

Hold down Q, then hit these in order: DOF Preview, Review, Set, turn rear dial 5 clicks, and let go of Q, press set again, and you get a diagnostics screen showing shutter count and some other strange values the techs must be able to understand.

Wow, Canon is awesome with this firmware update :D :)

Confuses people.

and wastes time... but wish I could see people try it out!

(it hopefully does nothing since I made it up, but you can try it if you want at your own risk!)

You know there might be some truth on this. I bought a GPS before and found out that there was a group of people dedicated in making "changes" to this GPS and they found the "technicians" back door control. So you never know :)

There probably is, but it is a closely guarded secret. TVs all have service mode menus, and if you know the correct remote button sequence, you can get it. This happened all the time with Mitsubishi TVs that Best Buy would sell. There were specific model numbers created just for BB, with certain configurations, but if you knew the real Mitsu model number and could get into the menu, you could activate features that were turned off.

I wouldn't be surprised that there is indeed some sequence, but alas, what I posted above was just in jest since we all have seen strange undocumented impacts to our shots after the firmware update. :)

Wow, I didn't know Mitsubishi makes TV :D. Maybe they have this "backdoor" control to their cars also and makes it perform like a ferrari :D But enough of this, I'm digressing too far! :D

I work with Canon photocopiers and there are "engineer" codes for those, so I can't see why there would not be for the cameras. And before anyone asks....

Er! now how the heck did you find that Easter Egg??? Assuming you are not pulling our combined legs ;)

PS That will teach me to post before reading the rest of the following posts...............but as noted in software they are called Easter Eggs and likewise with some of the hardware I have sold there is always the 'engineers access key press sequence' that is never disclosed to the normal end user so there may well be such key presses on the various Canon models but I surmise they would be used in combination with some kit plugged into the USB sockect for fuller diagnostics analysis???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p
