I know what it is, but how do you set it? I have a Rebel XT, and I think it's the C.Fn-4 setting, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure which one to use. From the Rebel XT White Paper:

C. Fn. 4 determines selectable functions for the shutter and AE lock buttons. The four choices are: 0, AF/AE lock; 1, AE lock/AF; 2, AF/AF lock, no AE lock and 3, AE/AF, no AE lock.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?
Digital - 50D, 20D IR Conv, 9 Lenses from 8mm to 300mm
Analog - Mamiya RB67 Pro-SD, Canon A-1, Nikon F4S, YashicaMat 124G, Rollei 35S, QL17 GIII, Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex 1st Version, and and entire room full of lenses and other stuff

The bit before the slash is what the shutter button does, the bit after the slash is what the * button on the back does.

So if you want to lock exposure with the shutter button and focus with the * button and you need to set it to function 1 on the fn4 menu.

I must admit Canon haven't made it very clear in the instructions.
