I think at 8gig and 16gig you're not going to get very many raw files on it, especially from the 5D MKIII. That being said, at the $199 price point, I went ahead and pre-ordered one and I am pretty much an Apple fan boy to the core. I haven't had an Android device since my old Nexus One so I am looking forward to screwing around with it.

Unlike Apple most Android devices accept either full sized or micro SD cards, so you can cheaply get all the memory you need. I believe this one takes the micro SD.

I would not buy ASUS just because their support can be horrible at times. But the lack of SD slot on an 8/16GB device makes it virtually obsolete at present for many applications before it even releases. Get the Galaxy 2 and you can toss in a 64/128GB card which it says 32GB in the specs. But that was written before SDXC cards actually came to market.

No expandable storage on the Nexus 7. You get what you get! As far as isoMorphic says about this tablet being virtually obsolete, are you kidding? It will be running Android 4.1 "Jellybean" and because it is a pure Google device, it will be first in line for updates in the future. I think the OP was looking for a tablet not a phone and I dont think this one, as good as it is for the price, will work for what he wants.

RAW file processing will be slow on little embedded processors.
