Quite an impressive firmware release if you shoot with a 7D.

But my word, have you read the comments? They are a happy bunch over there aren't they?

When they aren't squabbling about which particular camera manufacturer is the best, they seem to moan and **** all day about obviously awesome updates such as this. No pleasing some people.

^^ Yeah, agree. Some people just never get happy for what they have. That is really quite an impressive list of updates. 7D users are lucky..... Meanwhile us 60D users got a serial number and foreign language menu screen fixes. meh :(

so you can expand the internal shot buffer with a firmware update?
wish they would do that with some other models

Win.

While I will likely not get to use the 'upgrades' this firmware will provide... well maybe the user configurable Auto IS would be useful. I have to admit, this is a good job on Canon's part. The 7d is around 3 years old, with the firmware it boosts it to 7dn status.

This is what has me interested:
"Manual audio level adjustment in movie recording"

You should see all the hacks people do to defeat the AGC of the audio, and there's no "magic lantern" hack around this either. About time Canon, but better late than never.

Well Folks, as a 7D shooter I praise canon for not just letting the 7D go with the old BIOS, rather they updated essentially every phase of the camera's operation.

Thanks Canon...

Al, I believe it will come in on the heels of the next announcement from Canon.

I can live without the upgrade for a few days but after that it's going to be pure hell :) waiting for it to be released.

Aww. I'm not a 7D user but this makes me wish I was. Recently I was thinking it would be great if I could star photos on the camera itself and then search for them on my computer.

On the bright side, it's probably safe to say that future models will also have in-camera rating.
