right now i have very few birds including hummers. i havent seen many like i was acouple of weeks ago. Are they are nesting? i can sit outside and not hear one bird cheerping. Once in awhile a juncko comes to the feeder and i do have a Gold Finch that comes morning and evening.. A Robin will come and take his daily bath and thats it....

Most likely they migrated for the breeding grounds.
Myself I noticed fewer birds around my favorite spots, but that is normal.
There will be more action when birds migrate back south.

Slow here in Florida too, even the regular residents don't like to come out on the hot days of summer.

Morning and Evening right now are the prime times. It is very hot during the day here on the east side and the birds are staying in cover. Evenings are still full of Quail, Pheasant, Finch, Sparrow, Raptor, and Starling activity. Right now is a great time to get Raptor photos. They are on nests and easy to find and pattern.

I posted a similar question re hummers 3 weeks ago and that situation continues-even worse. Don't think I've seen a hummingbird in 2 weeks. We, too, are in the middle of a heat wave-100 deg. today. Not going downtown for the fireworks, that's for sure. Don't know if the heat has something to do w/ the absence of hummers. But other birds are here in usual numbers for me except another fav-male Goldfinches. It wasn't unusual to see 3-4 on the feeders at the same time; now, I see 1 or 2 per week probably. Anyway, those are my complaints-"Thanks for listening".

I know why there are a few less here. My local resident sharp-shinned hawk has been busy, I have found little piles of feathers near the feeders for 3 mornings in a row...;)

I just started putting out my hummer feeder a few days ago. Very little activity here in South Texas too. I usually only see one or two when I happen to be looking out, once a day or so.

I'm not sure if my nectar is going bad sooner than I am aware of, but with the HOT temps here 100+ I have been dumping it every other day.

..ok not entirely true. I have seen a few hummers in the yard, but very very very few instances. More bee's and ants!
