What lens? And why F/5.6? Seems like you could've had a wider aperture and dropped the ISO a bit.
It's the 100-400 and f/5.6 is wide-open. Like I said, sure missing the 70-200 f/2.8L IS!

Overexpose your high iso shots by about 1 stop and the noise issue minimizes greatly. I was already shooting with the lens wide-open and at ISO 6400. There wasn't anymore exposure to gain short of reducing shutter time to speeds that would have blurred out the subjects. Canon 5D2 > 35L-85L-135L

I have Neat Image which generally does a good job reducing noise and not turning the image to smooth. I'll give that a run. Canon 5D2 > 35L-85L-135L

Thanks. Didn't think so but I don't have to go that high on the ISO setting under normal shooting conditions. Game was supposed to start about 45 minutes earlier when the light was still there. Then again there is an app for that. A great photo only starts with the shutter release,

Yes there is noise but overall the FF look is much more real than my 60D A7rIII | A7III | 12-24 F4 | 16-35 GM | 28-75 2.8 | 100-400 GM | 12mm 2.8 Fisheye | 35mm 2.8 | 85mm 1.8 | 35A | 85A | 200mm L F2 IS | MC-11

Guess I can go back and do it again! Thanks for the tip and your opinion. dave instead of DPP use noise reduction in Photoshop with layers, it's better. But those pics don't look so bad for ISO 4000
