Brassing?

I've been looking around to see what the prices are on the 500L and i noticed one listing that indicates brassing on the lens mount at rear element...

is this something to be concerned? especially on such a large and heavy lens?

Brassing is paint wearing off of surfaces from a lot of use. It just means it has seen quite a lot of use, or as some say, a lot of love. It does not necessarily mean it has been abused, but you would have to look at it and make a judgement call on that one.

thanks for the reply... the one image i've seen, actually, the metal contacts area seems to have some scuffs... not the electrical contacts, just the rim around it...

Means it was used. I wouldn't sweat it if it works fine when you test it out.

If you're really worried about it you can get new rear lens mounts from sellers on Ebay. Most are around $40.
