Fontana, Auto Club Speedway, the track formerly known as California Speedway, the house Penske built, all that. haha. =)

OK, so if you looked at the photos and didn't read this you are going "what the heck is this over processed j..."

So, when I picked up a DSLR it was to take pictures of cars. And I did that, and not that I was good or anything, but I felt like going all weird and pushing myself to go a little crazy. Not worry about getting lots of good shots, push the panning beyond logic and not worry about tack sharpness. So, just purely for fun, being creative, thry to shoot at 1/25th on my 400mm, just having a ball, this is what I came up with.

Its a first try at an experiment, so if its no good, its no good. I liked a couple.

#1 - 1/40th 400mm

No1 also...

Not for everyone, as I dont think a lot will get it.

But neat, at least one portion is in focus so it aint a stuffed pan claiming artistic licence..LOL

Really not my thing BUT as mentioned by Ando - at least some of the car is in focus which is more than some of the 'guys' try and palm us off with ;)

1 & 4 (easier if you number them) for me, do love a good looking Mustang [drool]

THanks! That's a Datsun (2000 I believe) piloted by Adam Carolla.

I like 'em. That's a technique I've been wanting to play with. It gives a great sense of movement. I like #4 best.

Cheers,
Kurt O.

Needless to say, the slower the shutter the more feeling of speed when panned. But, staying in sync with the car is really tough, so your keeper rate suffers. Considering what you were trying, I think you did a great job.
