I was going to post a picture of my latest project bike, but it's not photography-related.

WAIT!! It's a photograph.....that works!!

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/grumpus/image/147860715.jpg

This is a 1983 Nishiki Seral, a touring bike. It's too tall for me, so unless my BIL wants it, I'll just flip it once it's all finished. Someone in its past changed the handlebars from the normal road bike drops to what's on it now, so I have new bars and levers in the garage waiting to be installed. I'm just waiting for the new tires so I can do it all at once.

[EDIT] This was a $100 Craigslist find. Pretty unusual out here in the land of senior citizen Huffy's and K-Mart Schwinns.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Come down to TX, sunny, 60 right now, refreshing after a quick spot of rain last night. All the dust is out of the air. I perfect day for unpacking.

I don't think I'd be able to make it back in time for work on Monday. I would love to be able to skip all this 'pre-winter' nasty weather. I really don't enjoy this super damp cold weather. A nice chilly, foggy morning is nice but +2 and threatening rain is yucky.

I just got the tires. Two are about half worn, the other two about a quarter worn. $250 for a set of tires that would cost me $1000 new is a great deal.

Chief post an after shot. Really interested to see the final results :)

The bulk of Chicago winter is like that. The nice white snowy days are rare. most of the winter is gray, cold, dame, raining or sleeting, just plain miserable.

That's what last year's winter was like. The year before it got cold, stayed cold, and snow a lot. I like it when it stays cold and the snow piles up.

Just got home... 330 km trip, half a tank of fuel, about 4 1/2 hours of time. Went to Montana's for lunch with dad, and the puppy got lots of personal attention during the drive. Started raining not long after we left Windsor, by the time we got home the rain was mixed with ice. Temp is high enough that it's not freezing on the road, but it'll start dropping soon.

I have a full set of truck tires in my garage that have less than 100 miles on them. They fit nothing I own. I should probably put them up for grabs.

If you were closer I might be interested if they fit my truck, but the cost of shipping or me driving there to pick them up would negate any savings on the tires...

That looks a lot like a bike I had back in the 1980s. Sold it when I got lazy...

FML camera died end of 1st quarter of a 5A semi final playoff game. The dreaded error 99. I lost a whole half of game pics and halftime. Ugggggg I feel like I let these people down. They have been so wonderful the last month buying my pics . I feel like snit 40d has 95k shots in it. And I was going to send it off for service next week after the state finals. Damn.

:rolleyes:The bike is losing weight.

I've stripped everything off so I can get a good look at the frame. I found a small dent under one of the bottle cages, but you can't see it when the cage is installed. Not a problem. There are a few small rust spots that I'll treat with Naval Jelly and clear lacquer, but nothing scarey. As I put it back together, I'm going to clean/shine each component, and replace all the consumables (cables, brake pads, etc.). It will be a nice bike when I'm done.

I bought it for $100.00, and will end up putting about $200.00 more into it. I should be able to sell it for around $150.00. WIN!!!

I hope.
