You can tell if a cat is going to get big by the size of its paws. Even when they are 4-6 weeks old you can tell. I've watched many a kitten grow and when they have large paws they get big. By the size of those, you are going to have one big kitty.
Any explanation on this story?

Little Peanut who lives on our front porch. She won't let us near her, but we need to get her to the vet before she starts popping out kittens.

Mark,
I know you know about feral cat groups, ask to borrow a trap or if someone has a raccoon trap use it. Cover her up so she feels secure and then bring her in to get fixed. She will need a day or two inside to recover a bit before letting her back outside again. See if you can find either a dog carrier or a pet cage.
The feral group may have a Dr. with a spay/neuter discount, they ususally run $40-50 and about $100 more if you bring it to your vet. Yours may offer a discount also, just let them know it is a feral that you feed.
Wear leather gloves when handling the carrier/trap.
Thanks for doing this.

Oh, we've been through it all. 18 cats spayed/neutered and counting. We have a trap, but this one is sly and any time we try, some other cat gets in and springs the trap. We've never had such a hard time grabbing a cat. We had her in our screened-in porch once, but it was her and another cat and they both went ballistic and started forcing the screens out of their frames. I had to let them out before they caused huge damage to the porch.

We'll try again when the weather gets better. She's not in heat yet, and because she will definitely have to be set outside again, we'd like to wait until it isn't really bitter cold.

ahhhh, his "real number" finally slips by. lol ( I have 8 and 6 fosters but the foster total in the last 5 years is in the dozens)
I think you need a drop trap then, they have a door on them to let the cat out into the trap or carrier.

Most of those are still outside cats. We nearly got on top of the problem here, but our neighbors "like kittens" and keep letting cats breed like rabbits. Then the new kittens get chased out by the cats who have established their territory over at our neighbor's house, and we end up with them. This one in the pic is an offspring of another we couldn't catch and who rarely show up over here. If we could catch those two, we might catch a break for a while. But once they start having kittens, the problem starts all over again.

We did have one recent victory. One of the cats we had fixed got taken in as a foster by a couple we know and recently got adopted by a permanent family.

No, I'd have to do a lot of reading but I didn't see anything with the initial post. I'll go back later and see if I can find anything.
