Anything new or different in the house?
Have you changed anything in his diet?
Used any new household cleaners or laundry detergent?
Changed kitty litter brand?

Hopefully it's just a miner bug and he'll get well soon.

Thanks, both.
I've been narrowing down possible causes but nothing out of the ordinary that I could think of. Since right after the Thanksgiving, we have a fraser fir Christmas tree set up with a tree stand filled with water -- just water and nothing else. However, Tiger has seen the setup for the last five seasons and had no issues so far. The water in the tree stand is kept covered with a tree skirt and he is not the one to chew on ornaments or foreign objects - we've never decorated our trees with tinsels and never will as long as we have cats, and the ornaments are placed above where kitties can casually reach. I'm really glad that the vet saw him yesterday and given him some fluid, otherwise he would have been severely and dangerously dehydrated by now. Will follow up tomorrow re: his progress (hopefully for the better).

Maybe this will help. My kitty, Squeaky just recently had similar problems. He lost about 2.5 pounds and felt light as a feather. He was listless and stopped eating. All of his lab results were normal and X-ray normal. The vets made several guesses which did not help. After several weeks, another vet at the same clinic said that sometimes a condition in the small intestine will prevent food from being absorbed. He said that prednisone will improve the condition and give him more energy. He initially received a prednisone injection plus SC fluids to help hydrate him. He really perked up, but after about five days he stopped eating again. After another injection he perked up and then he was started on oral prednisone. It has been about a month and he is almost back to his normal energy level and has gained some of his weight back, but it will take a long time to recover from the weight loss if he ever does fully recover. Meanwhile, I have been feeding him several times per day with everything that he will eat. He has expensive taste in food, but I will spoil him with whatever he wants.

Our Tiger has been sick since Thursday morning. He threw up everything he ate on Thursday and on Friday morning. Did have the vet look at him yesterday morning and had the fluid given to him subcutaneously. He's lost a little over 10% of his body weight, nothing obvious, like blockage or ingestion, revealed by x-ray; blood test result shows that he has slightly elevated liver value, which is understandable given his weight loss. He's slept all day and night and continues to do so since the vet visit -- though he did manage to keep a little of what he ate this morning, a good sign.
Our house is very quiet since he is the most vocal of three kitties, and he's put himself on energy conservation mode by remaining very subdued.

A worrying situation but I feel optimistic that he'll recover.

Any similar stories or experiences?

AAAaaaahhh no!!! Poor baby, acctually it sounds just what Luna had a few weeks back. Blood good and nothing else abnormal, I went to a different vet she got some pills and she is feeling better till now. This moring she got her last pill and I hope it stay this way.

We will keep our paws and fingers crossed for Tiger..... come on baby you must feel better again...

A quick snap of Mia from this afternoon -she's one of my three troublemakers and was a bit put out that I was playing with a new lens rather than her!

She's a bit tricky to photograph as usually when I point a camera in her direction she comes running...

This is Dexter, my 15 year old Sphynx. Still going strong! With his age, he has developed peach fuzz over his body.

Edited in LR, then ran through FotoSketcher for an oil paintig effect.

Oh boy, lots of new kitty pics in the last day, they all look fantastic!

@Speedync, I bet your Nephews' dad spends a ton of cash on food for that litter!
