Hi. Recently got interested in photography and took some pictures of my wife's cat. I am very open to criticism and any advise on improving so please let me know! Thank you.

Beautiful cat. You were asking for comments - unless she's really pale orange, you need to correct the white balance. Dunno what software you use, but most photo editors allow you to select the eyedropper symbol and click it on a white or gray area. Like, I assume, her chest.

I don't have a cat so I don't take a lot of cat photos. This is with my old 1000D and kit 18-55 a few years ago. This is our friends' cat, Rio. He just has this "thug" expression on his face 24/7!

For the simple stuff, as well as for raw conversion, a good choice is Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) - which you already have. It's on the CD that came with your camera.
