This is not the reason we feed so many critters around here!

My neighbor's cat Diana, the same love-a-muffin in post #9132, is seen here giving a chipmunk a real hard time.
At times, the chipmunk was gripped in Diana's mouth and I was chasing the two of them to try to stop it.
I was able to break up this fight, and the chipmunk was able to run away.

It is telling that the first inclination was to gab a camera, but I am also happy to have put that down and stopped the fight.
(I once resuscitated a half-drowned mouse, but that is a story for another thread)

There are other images in this sequence on Flickr, and none of them are gory.
(Lots of cute chipmunk photos in my Flickr "Animals" album as well)

Grrrrrrrr, Diana!!

To cats, a chipmunk is a mouse with racing stripes. My two bring them alive into the workshop for entertainment, where they survive for a couple weeks, living off cat food and drinking from the water dish. I put a live trap on top of my bead blast cabinet to try to catch them, to no avail. Then I noticed a hole chewed in the sleeve where you put your arms into the cabinet. Grrrr.

Special needs Gila Woodpecker...:-) She's actually doing well enough to survive since this is the second years I've spotted her.

Tom that is a gorgeous photo and quite sad too.
But. These cats will start going ballistic.
I'm concerned for its safety.
It's already lost part of its beak. What's next?
A really nice composition, photo.

Hi Richard...

Thanks for your comment.

I posted the Gila Woodpecker photo to the wrong forum. So, I've deleted it from here and reposted in the "Birds" forum. I should have know that cats and birds don't necessarily like being in the same forum.

Lycomech96,

Man, that is funny: "a chipmunk is a mouse with racing stripes" !!

I too have a small sandblasting cabinet in a shed near the bird feeders, and chipmunks have filled the gloves with sunflower seed husks to the point that I could not insert my hands into the gloves.
