My LaPerm Frappi (short for Frappuccino, which was the name given to him by the breeder due to his brown color) wasn't acting "normal" (he was hiding in the closet when he is usually my "velcro cat"), so I took him to the vet. Turned out he had a ruptured anal sac, which had left an infected hole about the size of a dime. He had to stay overnight for surgery on Tuesday. Yesterday he got the drain removed, but he doesn't get the stitches out until January 2. He managed to pull out some of the stitches, so now he has to wear a cone 24/7, which he doesn't like.

Does he rhink he's a dog? Usually we see this in dogs?
Don't worry it will soon heal, as soon as the abces is opened the worst is over.

Thanks, I usually catch up on the weekends. Actually on vacation for the holidays, so doing well.

Thank you to everyone who posted comments and good wishes. He is doing better, and the place where the stitches came out is healing nicely along with the rest of the incision. He seems to have resigned himself to the cone. Actually yes, he does seem to think he is a dog, as he plays fetch, follows me around the house, and is unable to meow (in all fairness, he can't bark either). The vet says she sees about two cases a month of ruptured anal sacs (her practice is limited to cats). I had never heard of this before, and he just had his annual checkup in November.

We often travel in a small campervan. There is an 'upstairs' storage area. On the long
drives the cat(s) like to nap up there.
So I made a ramp to make it easy for them to walk up.

Just curious how your cats fare with your love of taking photos of birds?
Our cats have sat on the inside window ledge salvitating and making little mew mew noises whilst watching birds dancing about outside.
