I'm delighted to finally say I own a 300mm f2.8 L IS, something I've sorely needed, will no longer have to rely upon the 70-200 for sports!

Was a great deal, just over £2.5k from DigitalRev, wasn't even charged duty, an absolute bargain!

You know, it's actually great to hear someone with a real need for a lens, actually making do until they could get one. It must be all the sweeter and you must be in seventh heaven!

Warmest congratulations.

Yea, definitely, I really did outgrow the 70-200 as a main lens for sport! Just a shame that I didn't have it for last weekend's bike racing!

I've just ordered a 300 F4 for my kids sports. Just waiting on the lottery win, then I'll get the 2.8 as well. Hope we get to see some pics of/with the new baby!!!

Enjoy the 300mm Pete. It's a superb bit of glass... it's also very hand-holdable as well - I found it increasingly useful for speedway last season, so you'll certainly have some fun with it at the cycling you cover.

It's pretty rare to hear of someone NEEDING a lens like this! LOL
Well done,it's one of the best lenses ever.

Will you change your name now or are you hankering after some other lens as well? (or is that just a dumb question! ;))
