10D Flash Problem - all images too dark

Hi all together,
I'm new in this forum, my name is Hajo from Germany.

My problem is:

I'm using my 10D in the Dental business since many years with a 100 Macro lens and MT 24EX . Normally I use the settings are 1/90 sek with 27, so I get the best results in depth and light. The Firmware version is 2.0.1.

Since a while all taken pictures are too dark.
I checked all settings, but could not find any error.

If I correct the settings manually by adding +2 to the flash, or manual flash correction in the camera, all is fine but these settings are gone if the camera is switched off.

I used the flash and the lens with another 60D body, everithing was working correct, so it must be anything in the 10D settings.

Has anyone an idea what happened?
Would be great!

Hajo

That's normal. Teeth are white and they need Exposure Compensation or Flash Exposure Compensation. I don't recall if the 10D is supposed to reset when it's turned off, but it could be a dead backup battery (the coin cell located near the main battery door) not allowing the camera to hold them. When was the last time this battery was replaced?

Tahnk you for you replay,
I can't remember, that I ever changed the battery.
But I had the same idea and checked the voltage, it is ok.
On other hand voltage and capacity are two different things - I will change it.

Battery replaced - at first no difference.

But when I turned off the flash correction and turned on the correction in the camera, I got good results as well. So it could have been the battery.

Teeth are not white!
Every patient wants little white teeth and if you lay the samples on a white sheet of paper, everyone cries. ;-)a
That's why we use black paper or tissue...

My point is teeth aren't neutral grey as far as the camera meter and exposure are concerned.
