This big guy crossed right in front of us as we were stopped at a pullout south of the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone. We were on our way out of the park and spotted him paralleling the road for quite a while. We kept driving ahead of him, finally stopping at the pullout. Got a ton of good shots of him before he darted across and went deep into the trees.

So, did you find out the age old question? Why did the bear cross the road?

Great picture!!! I keep telling my DH I want to see a bear, still have not seen one. Him and his buddy saw one last weekend while getting firewood, but I am still zero for gazillion tries!

Must have been through there a half dozen times a few weeks ago......nothing. Did the bear cause a major traffic jam? People stopping for a picture of wildlife are more dangerous than the wildlife.

There actually wasn't that many cars. Maybe 5-6 at the most. But this was 8-9AM so not many people on the roads. There were a few cars stopping right on the road but the ranger did a great job of keeping people moving. Thankfully there was a pullout at the spot he decided to cross.

Someone on another board said they saw this one fighting a grizzly over a carcass. I can believe it - he was huge and had some war wounds on his face.
