It took 6 months of deliberation but I finally took the plunge and bought my 300mm f4 L IS I also picked up a 1.4xTC III. So my 60D is now a 670mm f5.6 (in old money)!

Can't wait to give it a go at the Royal International Air Tattoo next week, will post some results.

It's a nice lens. You'll like it (I think!). I like mine, but I use mine on a 5D.

i've owned this lens a couple of times. it really needs a refresh in terms of updated glass and IS. still, for the price, it's a darn good lens.

It's a great lens to use for all sorts of things, with and without the TC. Have fun!

The IS is an older format and a bit "clunky". An update would be nice but then the price would
probably come close to doubling.

Congratulations! I have used this lens with a 1.4x II to photograph thousands of bees over
the past 5 years along with the occasional butterfly, dragonfly, distant bird on a limb etc.
My most often used lens!

Its a real good lens and I wish I had mine back....problem with the upgrade is that the price will certainly double at least on it the way Canon is going.
