Finally gave in to the urge and acquired a sigma 70-200 II (OS). Along with that and my new wireless remote for the 7d managed to get the camera positioned such that I am able to get some photos that I feel are getting into the range of being adequate to post here. :D

Have a look and let me know what you think.

The second image is definetly sharper especially in the bird's face...looks good. The Mods might come after you though for the huge size of these two posts and I think 1024 is the longest side allowed ....
