It seems I get white spots quite frequently with my omnibounce, is this common?

I had the same thing happen to me on occasion with my G3, 420EX and omni-bounce. I was never able to figure out a pattern to when or why it happened...

Perhaps it would be better if you could post a pic so we can see how we can help.

I've had the same thing happen to me with the G6, 420EX and omnibounce. Little hexagonal (or something like that) spots in my pictures. I don't know the cause and I haven't figured out a pattern.

Recently I actually rinsed out my Omnibounce in the sink thinking that dust may have collected, let it dry, and haven't had the problem since. But of course, this may have nothing to do with it. Another setting may bring the spots back again. It's unfortunate, because I do like the effect the Omnibounce has at diffusing the light.

Dust floating in the air near the lens and lighted by the flash can produce out of focus white spots, perhaps dust in the lens surface may also produce spots, but I think that some dust in the omnibounce surface will not affect your picture.

Not the kind of white spots I was thinking of.
Do you mean the white in the red jars? Are they cold? It seems condensation to me.

I really can't see it. Can you enlarge the pic?

I just did a test, it seems if I shoot straight on with the Omnibounce on and an overhead light I get the spots for sure.

Hexagonal shape is form from the aperature. If you look in front of your lens there might be an small oil or water spot. Something translucent. Very small.

Hmmm. It does seem to move. I'm puzzled to what it could be. It is more prominent in the second pic, where you can see one near the picture frame and another on the blue shirt. Are you using the lens adapter, and if so, do you have a filter on it? Be sure it is clean on the inside and outside.

Lens adapter is on. I will check the lens for dust. The problem seems to be lens flare from the hexagon shape of the spot. It only seems to happen when the omnibounce is on and pointed straight on instead of "bounced" at 45 degree angle and there is another light source in the room, usually overhead.
