Had a couple of minutes today when the baby was sleeping to step outside and try to snap some of the dragonflies that were flying everywhere when i was cutting grass earlier today. Please C&C.

both shots have a dept of field issue and the the second picture you cropped the wing too close


So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

To elaborate on the DOF issue the pp is talking about, you focused more on the dragon's body and abdomen, than his face. The use of shallow DOF can be very beautiful when the focus is on the proper part of the subject. I quite like the composition of the first shot. PP was right though about the cropping out of a bit of the wing.

i think the first one is great, sharp and colorful. lighting is right on. but i agree it would have been more dramatic if the focus were on the eyes and not the body.
