Always elegant, always a fan of your photos. Maybe touch up the white flecks in her eyelash in no. 2? Other than that, simply...wow. You are soooo good at capturing emotion in each photo.

Yeah, noticed that in #2. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm always inspired after viewing your work. Amazing captures, #4 and #5 are stunning. That light! :)

Thanks. It depends on what I am shooting at the getting ready session, how big the room is, etc, but yeah, I'd have to say I mostly use my 50L. If the room is spacious enough, then I might go for the 85L instead. Sometimes I'll grab the 24L for specific shots and I usually always have my 100L handy for macro shots. I usually go with my 85L for tight portraits though. The first photo was with the 85L. Not always easy when space is limited though. Second photo was also with the 85L, but you can see I couldn't get high enough. I had her sit down and I was standing on a chair, you know, all 5'6" of me. Ideally, on a shot like that, I'd want her hands to be in the frame. I also need to get a stool so that I can avoid having brides sit on a chair with a back on it. Most brides aren't too fond of sitting on the floor, although that would be a sure fire way of getting beautiful photos. Oh, and I'm still working on getting a step ladder!

I'm still trying to incorporate the 45 TS-E into all this, but it remains a work in progress.

Thanks! Yeah, back lighting (in this case, lighting coming from above at an angle I suppose) and darkish background makes for nice images. :)

thanks for the clarification. I'm still working on carrying a 1d mk4 and a 5d2. so if the 50 is a bit wide for what i need, i'll slap it on the 1d or vice versa. Makes things nice sometimes, other times, it makes things out to be a pain.

The only thing is that a 50mm prime will always be a 50mm prime no matter which camera you use it on. I'm not talking about FOV, but just the characteristics of the lens at that focal length. For tight portraits, 85mm is just the more flattering lens IMO. But yeah, the 85 on a 1.3x crop FOV-wise would be a little long for sure. I mean, I use the 50 for those shots as well, especially if I don't have space or if I can't get high enough to fit what I want to fit in the frame.

well... problem a, i sold my 85mm f1.8 for the 135L

problem b. i don't have a 50L. picked up a sigma 50mm f1.4 but need to send it in for calibration. they want me to send in a body with it? sigh...

hence why i stick w/ the 24-70 on one of the bodies at all times indoors

Really nice, Nick - it was great shooting with you!

1 & 2 look to be just a little green on my monitor, otherwise very nice.

3, 4, 5 - no critique to speak of from me, very nice.

6 - I'd crop a little tighter to remove the pipe in the lower left - although I may just be noticing it more because it's visible in some of my pictures as well.

7 - The blacks are little dark for my taste, looking at all the guys' suits.

8 - Sort of looks like she's pushing him away because of what he's saying, but a nice capture nonetheless.

Great shots overall - hope to work with you again soon!
:)
