The Black Lenticular Quintessence is Here !

After having the EF24-105 f4L USM IS in my hands for ten days, and after some 500 shots with it, I have decided to cash it back in and put the money into something that might give me more of a "wow" factor.
So the money has changed hands today and my brand new EF 85 f/1.2L USM is on the way from the Canon Distributor in Toronto via my trusty Henry's Camera store..

With that lens I will complete the "Black Lenticular Quintessence" set: the keenest black lenses Canon makes IMO. (The only lens I am not so sure about is the 180 macro....do not know much about it's performance as a general telephoto.):
(1) EF-S 60 2.8
(2) EF 35 1.4
(3) EF 85 1.2
(4) EF 135 2.0
(5) EF 200 2.8

Obviously, my 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 are both very nice and sharp lenses...they just do not fit into the five keenest !

I just ordered the 24-105L. Why did you not like it?

You are right there Davie ! Had I found any enjoyment in computer graphics, I would have acquired no lens beyond the EF-S 18-55, and then I would have sunk thousands of $ into computer hardware/software instead of quality glassware

If that was the only mid range zoom I had, then perhaps I would have kept it.
If the IQ obtainable with it had a "wow" factor (that one is subjective !) I would have kept it despite the redundancy in zooms in my possession.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a 24 - 105 this Spring. Now you're making me wonder if I should. Could you please post some of the 500 shots you took? I'd sure like to see them!

lens selection really is a personal choice. if you think you need the focal length and the good glass then I'd get it. just buy from a palce that has a decent return policy, so if you decide you don't want it you'll have no problems.

Dang. You beat me to the punch. I am going to treat myself to this lens for Christmas. Dont think its a primo tree shark lens though.
