I would like to start doing some hdr images but only have lightroom. Can I do the image merging and tone mapping in elements 10 or do I need cs6. I really dont think I would use all the stuff on cs6 and its stupidly expensive so am hoping elements will be enough for me. All I really want it for is image merging and some of the editing things that I can't do in lightroom which to be honest isn't a whole lot.
Any help would be appreciated

Far as I know, Elements doesnt have HDR capability. But you dont need CS6 either. There are many HDR programs out there cheaper than CS6. I use both Photomatix and SNS-HDR. They're not free (although I believe there are some open source solutions out there), but not as expensive as CS6 either. Or you could try the new Adobe Creative Cloud. For a monthly subscription, you get both CS6 and Lightroom as well as some other Adobe products. Good luck

Photomatix has a free trial, though they do put a watermark on you're image. I am new to HDR and I have found it pretty easy to get started. The full version was less than 100.00 US currency. I use Elements 9 to fine tune my images when done with Photomatix.

I have PSE 10 and it does not have HDR capability . But it is a darn good program for the $$ . But i agree with Colin about Photomatix (external link) or SNS-HDR (external link) but also there is Machinery HDR Effect (external link)s that has come along ways but is an excellent program also . You may want to download trials of each tho and test them to see what you like best . Seems this has been a big battle in HDR software in this section .
