You either need to change the head or add a Arca-style clamp to it, such as:

Otherwise, the L-bracket will do you little good.

I have a Manfrotto head. The B2-Pro-II- is the correct one but mine needed the metric 6 screw instead of the 1/4- 20. If you look to the bottom of the linked RRS page it refers to the two screw types. It's a great clamp and system but get the correct screw when ordering.I suggest contacting RRS. They're is extremely helpful, info@reallyrightstuff.com (external link)

No, the 200PL is an RC2 quick release plate and the geared heads use an RC4 QR. You could buy another QR plate and attach a RRS (or whatever brand) clamp to it. Kirk (external link) makes one that's a quick replacement. Hejnar makes one that is a bit more secure than those, but requires a tiny amount of work. It basically takes the Manfrotto RC4 clamp out of the picture and attaches via screws. You can get the full kit (external link), or just the adapter plate (external link).

^^

I have the Arca-Swiss conversion plate made by Hejnar Photo on my 410 head. Very high quality and well worth the price.

I have different Hejnar gear but can confirm that the build quality is excellent and his pricing is reasonable.

Just so im getting this right.

KIRK - SQRC-3271 Manfrotto 3271 Quick Release Clamp - used for Kirk L bracket
is same as
Manfrotto 410 adapter 4 Kirk Markins Arca Swiss Wimberley Acratech foba Benro - used for Acra Swiss
and same as
B2-Pro II with 1/4-20 screw

All RRS and Kirk L brackets work with any of these?

Cheers

Yes, the clamps are all Arca compatible. Since they're all screw type clamps then they will work with all Arca style plates including L brackets.

If you still want to use the Manfrotto QR system with other cameras, then go with Kirk. If not, then I would go with Hejnar.

Problem is once I commit to an L bracket I cant upgrade my camera for ages as they seem to make L brackets to fix specific models. Was going to get a D60 but seems
its going to get an upgrade soon.....

They do make universal L brackets. The problem is they're going to be a bit bigger and heavier. When they're made for a specific model, they only have to be as big as they need to be. The other thing is they are more secure since they can hug the contours of the body. The universal L brackets need to use rubber or cork to try to prevent twisting. There's also a good chance that a universal L bracket may block the battery door and the ports for your cables.

You can always sell an L bracket with the body if that worries you. You can buy used as well, as a few scratches shouldn't be a big deal.

Hi,
I got an email from RRS and they recommend :-

Please note that we do not usually recommend stacking quick-releases, which I believe is the only option on that 410 Junior Geared head. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Is he right?
Is there a way to remove the RC4 and use a totally different type?

Simon

I believe they're correct - if you look at your 410 you'll see that the QR mechanism is of a piece with the topmost movable part of the head. The only alternative to attaching an A-S clamp to your existing RC4 plate would be to get a custom-made plate/clamp combo that had an RC4 plate structure at the bottom and an A-S clamp as the top part.

Looks like I will have to remove the lever that is attached to the plate, before I can fix the Henjar plate!
