I just got my 100mm 2.8 in and ran out to take a few shots. I'm not sure how to shoot macro, or if there "is" a way to shoot macro, I'm just winging it, I guess. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!!

It looks like you are off to a good start to me. They are good photos.

If you look at the sticky threads in the macro talk section (link at top of this forum) there are some good ones by Lord V giving lots of advice.

Decent start. Have a look at the tutorials.

For a quick tip. My personal preferences are to shoot at 1/200th, F11, ISO 200 with flash diffused and output varied depending on ambient light.

Good work.

You will do fine at macro, you have the advantage that you take other kinds of shots, so I assume are more aware of aperture and exposure than I was a year ago when I started. I like the shot at F2.8, the DoF at certain angles can be very narrow and still work. That one does for me. The face looks to be well focussed.

That leads me to the only advice I can give, try to get the subjects eyes in focus, for some reason those shots work much better.
Have fun.

Not sure if this is a baby grasshopper or some sub-species, it was only about a half inch long
