As the title!

I'm thinking of exchanging my two 1's for a 7D, mainly for the higher ISO ability. The fps of the N are just about matched, as is the image quality I imagine (newer sensor and processor).

I use the N for motorsports in the UK, will I notice much difference with focusing? I realise I'll lose AF with the extender.

The S is used for landscapes, I will have to buy a wide angle EFS lens for this I guess, as the widest I'll have will be 40ish mm.

Does this sound like a good move?

I fancy newer controls, the ability to crop more and perhaps more importantly have a camera that Canon still support.

Thanks

I went from a 7d, to a 1ds, to a 1ds2, to a 5dmk3 + t2i. The 7d is the only body I would not own again. Mine and th few I had use of had serious af issues, secondary annoyances were low iso noise and banding.

I went from a 350D, 1D Classic and 1D MII to a 7D and can say without a doubt it was a good move. From the ease of controls to larger lcd to the ability to crop more it has been a great decision to move on. Here are a few pics I took with the 7D.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I bought a 1d2n from another photographer who decided to get a 7d instead. Citing weight and goofy ergo. After a few months of using it, I agreed. While the 1d2n was a joy to use and made me feel like a hero at an event. But it does feel dorky at parties or walking around with it.
Replaced it with a 7d. Awesomeness. Didn't miss the 1d2n. The 7d does what the 1d2n could and alot more. It is also lighter. Love the ergonomics of this camera. Speed and AF so far have not disappoint. Definitely don't miss the weight.

I will always say this, unless you can get a 1d2n for like $600 or under, the 7d is hard to beat. hdslr, flash commander, large lcd, slick ergonomics, ability to dial in AF via CFn, light weight and same weather sealing as the EOS 1V I say go with the 7d before Canon decides to jack up the price because of firmware 2.0!

Awful consistency if AF. Too many shots (in easy situations using single-point/center/singleshot) that were OOF. Happened with all 7D bodies used. Had second shooters use them at weddings with me, i've since banned the us of 7D's with my second shooters.
