Thanks to those who helped me pick the 7D as my first DSLR. The first few days were definitely a learning curve, especially never having used a DSLR. Over the last five days, Ive been shooting a few hundred pics a day. Sometimes, just of a still image inside working on focus, lighting and the basics. Than going out and putting it to use. First day I was flipping between AUTO, P, Tv, Av, M, not really knowing what the heck I was looking for. The images would come out all over the place (over exposed, under exposed, out of focus, blurry, you name it). Than I read the manual which helped a bit, but nothing helps like just going out and shooting for a few hours. Day 2 I just left it on manual and forced myself to figure it out. There's a lot to know about the 7D, which makes it overwhelming at first that's for sure. But I feel alot more confident in my shots now that Ive been shooting on manual the last few days. Thanks for those who pushed me toward it :) Looking forward to my next lens already

Yeah, I know this one is out of focus. It was one of my first shots with the 50mm.

I really like the 4th pic. The 7d is an awesome dslr once you get used to all the features it has to offer. And it does have quite a few. Enjoy the cameras, both of you.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

Don't think a UV would help much...A lens hood might help a little bit, but you're bound to get some flare when shooting into the sun...Nice pic by the way.

UV filter could just make that flare worse.
