Ounce you know they are out there, a flashlight is used to locate them on a perch. As long as you move slowly and keep the flashlight on it, the owl will not move and you can walk up to within 10' or closer to them ( I think they feel you can't see them). With your flashlight trained on the Owl, you just focus your camera and take the shot.
