Tonight about 10PM I had a Eastern Screech Owl hunting in my backyard.

Ron, the night sky is never totally black in the city, as a result, if you sit on your porch at night you can see Screech Owls flying across the skyline as they move from tree to tree. Ounce you know they are out there, a flashlight is used to locate them on a perch. As long as you move slowly and keep the flashlight on it, the owl will not move and you can walk up to within 10' or closer to them ( I think they feel you can't see them). With your flashlight trained on the Owl, you just focus your camera and take the shot. The flash does not seem to annoy them, I think because they are used to car lights flashing on them all the time.
