DSLR car mounts for video

I'm looking to do some epic car vids, I'm looking to buy a DSLR suction cup mount setup for video.
I've been looking at some proaim stuff under $200 for some cheap plastic

Will be my 5D MkII + 24L at most on the rig,
any thoughts or recommendations?

There are lots of options. I just made mine. It just depends on how secure you want it to be and how much you intend to spend. I've shot quite a bit of time lapse at quite high speeds (with a dslr) on a couple of the rigs below.

This kind of thing (below) would not be much good with a dslr but quite OK with a p+s or similar small cam, video or otherwise. You see the drift dudes using this kind of thing quite a bit but I'm sure you don't see all the smashed cameras, and I think there would be a few.

Thats great but those look real pricey, where can I get them? I'm looking for like driving speeds nothing crazy just stable and secure obviously. Budget is an issue also

First, you're going to hang your "pricey" 5D on it, right? So "cheap" might not so good an idea?

Second, WHERE'S THE SAFETY CABLE on those rigs? Wouldn't it be nice to add one?

In the US filmtools is the way to go, they have pretty much everything you need. For anyone not in the US shipping is a problem so even a cheap item like a rod or spacer can end up costing quite a lot.

The rigs that I used to make (past tense, I haven't for a long time) cost a lot of money, and they should because they're meant to be robust and reliable.

I'll pick up a film tools kit later on when hopefully I'll be a bit more established before dropping $500 on something, for now I just picked up the camtree kit for $140

Sorry guys for bringing this back, but I thought it's beetter than opening a new topic.

I am completing my three point car mount. One thing I am missing is hot shoe mount with a rod, that can be attached to grip heads (like on the photo in the post above). I can not order from Filmtools and most US sellers as they do not ship or have ridiculous shipping charge to this part of Europe

One option I can think of is to buy a simple hot shoue addapter and make a small rod at a local machine shop. But is there any other solution? Anything on ebay, from europe?

I have been googling for past few hours but I don't even know what to search for. I keep getting complete kits...
