I grabbed these a couple of weeks ago from a cold & windy Wellington while I was pre-flighting my a/c. All are with my 7D + 70-200F4L, it was blowing 30-35knts & the temp was about 5 deg out of the wind.

True about the heat haze Pete & I was rugged up against the cold but to stand out on the tarmac where I was I had no protection from the gusting wind & salt spray!

I was really happy to get the convair, every time i've taxied in at Christchurch it's been there parked, I'd never seen it fly until this day.

Would you be able to tell me where you were standing, what camera/lens you were using. I have been trying to shoot there the last couple of days, both from lyall bay and the cobham drive end, with no real amazing shots. Here is the link to some of the better ones anyway:

Hi Caterham,

I was standing out on the tarmac off the left wing tip of the C130 that the above photo of the surf was taken from, so inside the airport fence. I was using my 7D with the 70-200mm F4L on it. Post processing was done in photoshop elements 9 (which i'm still learning how to do it consistently). As fast a shutter speed as I could get for the A320 & 737 & then I slowed it down for the convair.

Phil

Thanks, I'll be parked in the same spot this Monday/Tuesday so hopefully I'll get the chance to get some more.
