I rarely used my sigma 10-20mm, so I shouldn't have bothered getting a 17-40mm but I did. Then I thought about how much I had tied up in a rarely used lens and figured I could use the money on something I would use more often. So I sold it and don't regret it. I don't shoot for paid gigs so no need to keep it.

I am considering just ditching the EFS 10-22 without adding a 17-40L, too. We have a trip scheduled to the Smoky Mountains and western North Carolina, and I will be making an effort to try and use the 10-22. If it still doesn't get used, then selling it, along with the 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 would fund a 50L.

I regret every single lens sale to this day

+1.
I always regret selling!

At the time though, it seems the right thing to do!

Funny that I had exactly the same dilemma before : sigma 50, canon 85 1.8 and 135L. And I sold 85 1.8 for exactly the same reason although I liked it.

If I were you, I would sell both 85 and 135L , get a 70-200 2.8 , ideally the IS MK II. Actually that's what I'm going to do : upgrade the sigma 70-200 2.8 to the IS MK II. It's just so incrediblely versatile.

I also got the 100mm f/2 as complementary lens to 70-200 2.8 for it's size and weight.

I really liked my Sigma 70-200 ex dg HSM II when I was shooting sports but the weight combined with the size of the 1d cameras I had just made it a real pain to carry around all day. That's one reason I switched out to the smaller and lighter primes.

That and when I would point the 70-200 at the grandkids they would freeze like they were looking down the barrel of a bazooka.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.
