1Dx has landed at my work and of course we threw it in our gear modeling table to take some quick shots of it before we prep it for rental. I saw that as an opportunity to photography my 5DmkIII next to it for a side-by-side shot of both cameras. The 1Dx feels slightly better than 1DmkIV. It actually makes the gripped 5DIII feel sloppy and unwieldy compared to it (note, compared to it. the 5DIII is actually the best feeling gripped body I've ever held and I've pretty much fondled our entire inventory). I can imagine myself holding this comfortably all day with a 400mm IS II attached and not become as fatigued as man-handling the heavier and chunkier D4. The shutter has a nice sounding clunk to it, like the satisfying sound of slamming the door of a mid 80's Porsche. Its loud, mechanical and would probably scare children within an earshot.

Some 14 fps fun:

I wasn't able to spend as much time with as I wanted, but all I know is if AF speed and accuracy is very important to you (which is to me since I shoot motorsports) the slightly faster AF speed than the 5DIII is noticeable and will leave you with a strange feeling in your loins.

I'll see if I can get some samples after the mid-week holiday break. Hopefully its still in the warehouse by then ;)

I didnt know the 1d-X was released yet, I am excited to get my hands on it. If we purchase the studio, Im thinking a 1dx, 5d Mark III, and maybe for the nikon user at the studio a D4 and D800, if we have the cash, hahahaha

Hm... not that I would ever complain if I was fortunate enough to own the 1DX... BUUUUT... I just noticed that the M-Fn button on the vertical grip side of the 1DX is placed in a whole different location compare to the normal grip. That would bug me. (But only because I don't own one. I'm sure if it was mine, I'd say it's perfectly placed.) :p

That's the plan. We'll just have to see how long it takes for me to make this a reality. :D

I am still trying to learn the M-Fn location on the Mark III without having to look, I would love to try that location to see if it's any easier to find, right next to the shutter doesn't quite "click" with me ;)

Maybe I'm being thick or something but having not read anything much on the 1Dx can anyone tell me how to change it from M to AV, TV,etc as it hasn't got a dial on the top. I'm assuming it's got a button somewhere that allows you to change it but the photos I've seen are too small to see anything definite. I haven't got any interest in buying one unless I win the lottery, I'm exceedingly happy with my 5D3, but I'm just curious after seeing these photos of it.

On the top left side where the dial would normally be, you see 3 buttons right? To change the mode, you will press the front button (the one that says mode) and then use the wheel to change the mode.
