So I'm taking some individual and team photos for a basketball team yesterday, and I'm noticing some inconsistencies with the focus (i've been noticing it more and more the last few weeks, actually). Right between two shots the 50mm f/1.4 gets stuck on infinity. Really stuck. The manual focusing ring doesn't even budge it. Fortunately (or rather unfortunately) I had the kit lens (i'd been better off with the Kodak Disc from 20 years ago;) ) to finish the shoot. It worked, but jeez, what a let down.

Luckily it's under warrantee and headed to California for a fix. Has this happened to anyone, and has anyone sent a lens to Irvine, California Canon USA. (If so, how long should it take? This is the first time I've had to send out camera equipment.) Not a good time of year to be without my indoor lens.

Thanks all.

Depending on the problem but at this time of the year it's not a fun time to be shipping anything, anywhere for repairs. Work slows, people take vacations, shipping slows. If it's not a whacky repair, I'd expect it to take two full weeks. However, sometimes they can suprise you. The last couple of things I have had shipped via UPS have been slooooow arriving.
