Hi all,

I'm looking for a light meter as well (just like the guy who made a thread a few posts below, but I didn't want to thread-jack). Thing is, I would be using it for reflective metering only. I'm not interested in any incedent metering modes.

Does anyone know of a light meter that only measures reflective light? I would be using the light meter with my old TLR, which has no build-in light meter.

Thanks a lot.

Not sure why you absolutely don't want the incident feature. Most meters have the diffusion dome on them to do incident light. Just don't use it. I don't think it will change the price of the unit by much if that is your concern. A spot meter will do reflective readings, but is more specialized, and probably more expensive.

Get a spot meter.
But Incident is often the metering techniqe.

I'm wondering why? If you need to buy a meter because this camera doesn't have one, (ettsn? That's why!), then incident readings can be very useful & some meters have the option for both incident & reflective readings.

Seems to be quite a lot of Gossen Luna Pro's on e-bay in the $20-30 range. Tens of millions of images where made with this meter over decades. Fancy? nope. Functional? oh yeah...

And it'll give you both reflective and incident.

And a perfect match for the old TLR!

The Gossen Luna Pro takes a mercury battery that is no longer available. There is a expensive replacement here (external link)
and will need to be added to the purchase cost.

The Luna Pro-F takes a regular nine volt battery and can be found for around $50-60

I'm not interested in incident metering because the added feature would cost an extra 100$ or so. And I'm broke as it is so...
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll look into the Gossen Luna Pro.

The Wein's a zinc-air (as used in hearing aids); it has a pretty short life span once activated.

As previously posted most meters have both reflective and incident metering available.

I don't think incident will add that much to the cost and it sure does come in handy for flash metering.

Of course, the meter would have to respond to flash light sources for that.

I don't remember the second paragraph being there when I posted. Edit perhaps?
