Because the color rendition is so good. This is my puppy, Coco. She is a rare chocolate and tan cocker spaniel. Her coat is a really unusual color with these chocolatey highlights. And she has a little chocolate nose As you can see, this lens captures it perfectly. At leastit does on my monitor. How does it look to you.

Looks good to me, have you taken pictures of anything else? Things outside? I want to see how the color comes out for outdoor shots, or objects and people....

People: I know this pose is stupid but she wanted it and believe it or not it was the favorite. Go figure. This lens does a great job on skin tones. Haven't done any outdoors yet.

Happy to see people enjoying this lens because it gets ragged on a lot, and probably 75% of those people are user error just like the huge amount that call their SLR soft and not like their P&S.

CHARLENE

I NOTICE YOU HAVE PHOTOSHOP. WAs there any post processing on those shots. Especialy the crackers-I can't believe the sharpness!! My 24-70 has yet to get that sharp and its been calibrated by Canon.

It's good to read about the 24-70L without someone bashing it. I love mine too.

I absolutely love mine also. I find most just do not really have the patience to take good pictures in the first place and of course it would have to be the lens.

Strange it's only this one lens people tend to bash, but when you get a nice one and know how to use it to best effect then it is clearly extremely capable.

Actually the Sigma 30 1.4 is bashed quite often as well since its had its share of bad copies too....

The puppy pic, the crackers and the blue thingy are all unsharpened. Small amount of levels adjustment is all I did. My 300d is set to parameter 1 though. With this lens levels is about all I have to do and not even that if I do custom white balance first. The puppy pic was handheld but the other 2 were on a tripod. This lens has not left my camera since I got it. I love it! But it did take a few days to get used to it. It is heavy.

I find the 24-70L to be tack sharp, I just think folks aren't used to the shallow DOF you can have being so much closer to your subject then say the 70-200 f2.8 lets you get.

This is my most used lens by far now, what a gem. The older 28-70L wasn't a bad lens either if you can find a copy.
