I don't get it... it's not like they aren't used every day?!?! What's so weird about seeing one being used?
It's not only about what you use; but how you use it as well. With any camera that doesn't look like this-
You need to configure it so that it at least resembles one,
if you intend to hand-hold it while shooting.
You can comfortably hold a camera, like the one pictured, on your shoulder for extended periods of time, with the added bonuses of:
- Deeper DoF for easier focusing.
- Huge zoom range.
- Long recording times.
- High quality 4ch audio recoding.
- Waveform and vector scope without the need of an external monitor.
And the final system price ends up being fairly similar, the camera pictured above will run you about $33,000 minimum, which isn't out of line with a Scarlet in the configuration posted by the OP.
Horses for courses I say... the Scarlet can do 4K, slo-mo, RAW, and so on, but it has to be used rather methodically. The HPX3100 pictured will only render a 1080p image at standard frame rates, but it will do so perfectly and you don't need to reconfigure it when the shooting situation changes.
