First try at Fireworks Today

Keep in mind this was shot with the kit lens 18-55... No wide angle lens at the moment.

I couldn't go to any event today so I shot the ones in my neighborhood :lol:

I had the camera pointing to the sky and it wad all darkness. Any other way to do it?

Manually focus on something far off in the distance. Check your focus during the first shots, and then leave it alone.

Put your lens in manual focus and then look through the view finder.....

Oh erikfig, these are oput of focus as mentioned my other members comments. You need to use manual focus, IS off, and a tripod when shooting fireworks. Since they shoot them off all week everywhere you may have another chance to try. Good luck.

For fireworks, why not just turn the focus ring to infinity and be done with it?

I auto focus on the first few then turn auto focus off. At shows they are all shot to the same area anyways. f10 , 3.2 sec , 15 mm.

Because infinity on a lens isn't always infinity.
