Good composition by a little underexposed and a little soft, either OOF or some movement, what was the shutter speed?

I'll agree with the others, looks underexposed and 'soft' on my monitor,
Maybe too low a shutter speed, DOF, etc.

Keep working at it. You got a great moment, but the subject is a little dark. I'd try again on a cloudy day or when the sun is lower in the sky.

This isn't an appealing image, the young rider is fighting the horse. See the horses eye? Also note the mouth open and the bit right back in the corner of the horses mouth.
Others have already mentioned OOF and too slow of shutter speed, the other thing I will add is timing.

Honestly this image doesn't work for me. As the others have said, it's underexposed and out of focus. Also you aren't positioned for the direction of the light so almost your entire subject is in harsh shadow. But the whole other problem is like 24alpha said, instead of showcasing great action, it showcases an enormous conflict between pony and rider with really poor hand position, gaping mouth, and panicked, highly uncomfortable expression.
