Need help with equipment offer.

Hi,

I was seeking advice from some people. Right now I have a Nikon D40 with a 55-200 VR (18-55 VR is broke). An offer just came up from a friend of a friend. Hes selling his T1i +18-55+75-300 + has a 500mm (offbrand cheap lens) and a cheap 2x teleconverter. Hes selling this for 400. Do you think this would be a good deal. I dont have preferences between Nikon or Canon just wanting some advice.

Probably just an OK or not so good deal because the 75-300, 500mm and 2x teleconverter are considered "junk" stuff. A better deal is the T2i (550D) and 18-55IS available through the Canon CLP program for $448. Or maybe keeping the D40 and 55-200 VR and upgrading to a newer Nikon model could be a good option
