Took a friend's 50D out for a test drive, was having focus issues so my keeper rate was really low... but here are some of the better ones. C&C welcome!

Where were you positioned for the second shot?

and why isn't the ref wearing a helmet? Would think that goes against Provincial Hockey rules?

This tournament takes place in the ice rink at West Edmonton Mall so there are spectator areas where you are basically almost on top of the ice (the netting is behind you!). I did get hit with a puck that bounced out of play.

That's a good question, though I have no idea under whose banner this tournament falls under as I believe it is privately organized.

It looked like you were really tall and on the ice next to the players.

Yep there is a huge skylight right over the rink so tons of natural light coming through. Although depending on the position of the sun some corners can get pretty dark!

Great shots Joel. The action is great and the exposure and white balance are really good which is difficult in arenas.
