I believe all the EX series flashes are compatible with G series cameras. I use the 220Ex w/ my G5. The only possible limitation of the 380Ex may be the off shoe cord II as I don't recall seeing it listed for that device, but it could work. I was also suprised that the G series cameras w/ Ex fashes don't permit the flash to emit its IR beam.

According to Steve's DigiCams review, the 380EX is one of the recommended flashes for the G5. It can't be wirelessly triggered though, and you can't swivel it, only tilt.

I have a 380EX which I bought several years ago for my EOS500 and have used it on my G3 for 2.5 years now without any problem and also on my 20D of course...

So I guess if it works on the G3, it should work on the G5

Bert -

I have this combination and it works just fine. I also have the off-camera sync cord and that works as well. One of my deciding factors in selecting the G5 was that I already had the 380EX and read that all EXs were compatible. As noted below, the 380EX only tilts - unfortunately, it does not swivel. I also use a small Lumiquest "softbox" as this seems to soften the exposure just a bit.
