Today admission was free to the grounds of the Indy here in Toronto so I headed out early in the morning to take in the atmosphere, loud noises, and just try to get some shots! I have never shot motorsports before, never done panning before and it was a challenge! These cars were moving really fast so to keep up with them I had to overcome some issues. First was the double fencing anywhere I went, so AF was jumping all over the place. Since my aperture was well above f/11 for most panning shots, I went with manual focus and just pre focussed on a spot on the track. All I had to do was pan and try to keep up with the cars. My 5D2 did very well, buffer never held me back and just helped me stay focused on getting the shot rather than worrying about other things. Enough talk, photos!
