Manual focus in C1/C2 setting

As a (very) new user can anyone out there confirm the procedure for using manual focus to pre-set a distance as part of a C1/C2 set up ?

I've been following the threads about hyperfocal distance/settings for point-and-shoot mode and have set C1 up based around f5.6. When I set the focus manually do I have to store it in some way (SET button, for example), or can I just update the C1 setting? When I tried this first time, the depth of field didn't live up to expectations, implying that the manual focus point had somehow moved!

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

Keep up the great work on the forum - it's a mine of information for new users like me: lunchtimes just aren't long enough though!

Dave

Sorry Peter

My Hungarian isn't too good. Can you translate the thread?

Thanks

Interesting. The custom preset function was one reason I would have considered upgrading to the G3. Perhaps not...

Sorry to bring this up again, but is this a problem that can be overcome? Looking at the dpreview forum (shame!), other G3 users appear to be using C1/C2 manual focus settings based on hyperfocal? How can Canon make a camera that features a moving manual focus? Do they know about this bug?

I'm using an hyperfocal setting w/ the G3 on C1, and have no problmes with the focus distance being set...

I have firmware 1.0.2.

Also be aware that as soon as you touch the zoom lever, you'll lose the focus distance setting until you go to other mode and return to the C mode, or switch off then on the camera.
