Hi I've been doing nightclub photography for a while, I use a 5d mark ii with the 24-105mm lens and 430ex ii flash gun an diffuser. Usually I Boyce the light off of the ceiling. However I am going to a bigger venue where the ceiling will be high. I'm not sure what to do in terms of how to use the flash. Also my normal settings are on manual f.4.5 2nd curtain, ISP 400 and shutter speed of 1/6

I think ISO 400 on a 5Dmk2 is pretty conservative, 1/6 is pretty slow unless you are waving the camera to make light strokes as FX, I would at least bump up to 800 and clean a little bit on LR4 noise cleaner, that would allow me to gain 1 stop of ambiance light and make my Speedlite more efficient, also Id use a Bounce card

Hi, for nightclub photography I would recommend you to just bounce to the side. Thats how I usually did it. I also used a diffuser though.
Also I would recommend you to use the HSS setting of your flash, open the aputure and set Iso to 3200-6400.
