I am a media student just starting out. I i finally mustered up enough money for a new camera last week. Found out by chance about this competition when a woman handed me a flyer as I was snapping and thought i'd give it a shot.

Any crit would be appreciated. Go easy though as i'm very new to it. Please vote (BEN GRAY) if you think the pics are worthy also. I would be very grateful.

Taken with 600D & 50mm 1.8.

Mine are currently top on most voted. http://carnivalarchive.org.uk/Norwich-carnival-submissions (external link)

Welcome to POTN Ben. I voted for your "Hoopla Hoopla" shot (I don't think it was linked in the set above) and your "Humans are so 2012". I think your framing the shot could use some practice, in your "Radio Norwich Float" shot all I see is a arm. You're getting votes, maybe you'll win. Keep shooting.

Hello. Thank you for the reply and for the votes! On that website you need to click the thumbnails and they open up which is maybe why you could only see the arm?. And I agree the "Humans are so 2012" isn't the best shot. I only took my fifty so I was a bit limited in terms of the crowd and distance from the floats.
