I just stumbled upon a used Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR DI at a local shop online. They give it a 9+ out of 10 which means near perfect. It is $269 with a 60 day warranty and 15 day return policy. What do you think?

I can guess why that one site is so cheap, but will refer you to resellerratings.com Yup, I won't be buying from the low ballers on pricegrabber. They seem to be the guys from New York that people have had trouble with. Thanks Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

Oh, one other (niggling) thing, in your signature, the spelling is Canon with one "N". Just FYI Ha I just changed it today and didn't even realize. Thanks. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

It's really saved me a lot of money over the years. It's good to hear though you got that type of deal. Go UCLA

I ended up getting an even better deal than I thought as the lens had the hood with it and i printed a coupon off of their website for a $25 gift card with instore purchase over $200. Now I have $25 toward the BG-E3 grip. Here are some pics of the lens and a shot of my dog Gizmo. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive
